Who the F is Marnie?
MARNIE NIR was born and raised in New York. She received a B.A. in Russian Literature from UCLA and spent her twenties dressed in black and working in publicity, marketing and entertainment licensing before getting knocked up and following her passion for writing. Marnie is a freelance writer in both fiction and non-fiction. Her humorous column “the Poop” ran for two years in CT and garnered a following as did her “Subourbon” column in the Jupiter Courier. Marnie has also written on a freelance basis for the Palm Beach Post, Sun Sentinel, Inside Triathlon (!), vlog-ed for MOMVERSATION.com, has two book proposals in the works and several TV treatments. In her spare time, she works as a life coach for the Handel Group and has been known to give finding love (shut up!) advice on line for the Huffington Post and Handel Group newsletter, as well as blog on her own site www.thesourmilf.com for relatives, Handel Group clientele, subscribers and fans.
Marnie and her great friend and TV writing partner, KATIE TORPEY (“The Perfect Man” and “The Truth about Kerry”) created a half-hour edgy and animated TV comedy about motherhood entitled “MOTHER UP!” with their producers: MASS ANIMATION, Breakthrough Entertainment and Bardel Entertainment. The series is currently in production and has been greenlit for 13 episodes (!) and will air Fall 2013 prime time on CityTV in Canada and HULU in the United States. Eva Longoria stars as the lead “Rudi Wilson,” the mother of all mothers and will executive produce as well.
Michael Shipley, a f-ing funny and hugely talented TV writer (“Family Guy,” “American Dad,” “My Name is Earl” and “Last Man Standing”) has signed on to be the supervising showrunner and executive producer.
